Enviesamento atencional na ansiedade social: efeito da carga percetiva

Mestrado em Psicologia - Psicologia Clínica e da SaúdeA evidência tem associado a ansiedade social a um enviesamento nos processos cognitivos, nomeadamente atencionais. Os modelos cognitivos da ansiedade propõem que os indivíduos com perturbações de ansiedade direcionam seletivamente a atenção para estímulos de ameaça. Deste modo, tendo como referência a teoria da carga percetiva proposta por Lavie (1995), o presente estudo examinou em que medida a carga percetiva aumenta os défices do controlo da atenção em pessoas socialmente ansiosas usando expressões faciais como estímulos distratores. Para este efeito participaram no estudo quarenta estudantes da Universidade de Aveiro, que responderam a uma bateria de questionários de autorresposta e realizaram uma tarefa atencional computorizada. Nas condições de alta carga percetiva, os resultados revelaram maior interferência das expressões faciais de raiva, nojo e neutras nos indivíduos com elevada ansiedade social, comparativamente com os indivíduos com baixa ansiedade social. Os resultados obtidos revelaram que os indivíduos com elevados níveis de ansiedade social não conseguem inibir os estímulos irrelevantes mesmo quando a carga percetiva é alta, apresentando um enviesamento atencional para sinais de ameaça. Este resultado permite uma melhor compreensão dos mecanismos de controlo da atenção na ansiedade social, abrindo caminho para uma investigação futura numa população clínica.The evidence has associated social anxiety to a bias in cognitive processes, including attentional processes. Cognitive models of anxiety suggest that individuals with anxiety disorders selectively direct their attention to threat cues. Thus, with reference to the perceptual load theory proposed by Lavie (1995), this study examined to wich extent the perceptual load increases deficits in attention control in socially anxious people, using facial expressions as stimuli distractors. To this end, forty students from the University of Aveiro participated in the study, by responding to a battery of inventories and performed one computerized attentional task. In high perceptual load conditions, the results showed greater interference of anger, disgust and neutral facial expressions in individuals with high social anxiety, compared to individuals with low social anxiety. The results showed that individuals with high levels of social anxiety could not inhibit the irrelevant stimuli under conditions of high perceptual load, exhibiting an attentional bias for threat signals. This result provide a better understanding of the mechanisms of attention control in social anxiety, make way for future research in a clinical population

Tools for traffic engineering on IP networks

In this work, an user friendly software application is proposed, built on top of a network optimization framework, aiming to make traffic engineering an easier task for IP network administrators. This framework was developed in the Center of Computer Science and Technology (CCTC) of the University of Minho and allows the improvement of quality of service levels in TCP/IP based networks, by configuring the routing weights of link-state protocols, such as OSPF. This goal is achieved mainly using Evolutionary Algorithms as the optimization engines, while networks are represented using graph-based mathematical models. These methods allow the optimization of distinct cost functions, using penalties that take into account several measures of network performance such as network congestion and average end-to-end delays. The main goal of this work is to create a structured graphical user interface to support the optimization framework, enabling the user to simulate the effects of diferente OSPF settings, to obtain highly optimized configurations and to compare different weight setting optimization methods

Mavacamten, uma nova terapia revolucionária na HOCM: uma revisão de literatura

A miocardiopatia hipertrófica (MCH) é uma das doenças cardíacas genéticas mais frequentes, sendo definida por um espessamento da parede ventricular esquerda ≥15 mm, na ausência de outras causas de sobrecarga ventricular. Um dos principais problemas associados a esta doença é a obstrução do trato de saída do ventrículo esquerdo, presente em até ¾ dos doentes, designando-se nesta circunstância por miocardiopatia hipertrófica obstrutiva. Atualmente, os principais objetivos da terapêutica destes doentes são a redução sintomática e a redução da progressão da doença. Este objetivo é atingido através de terapia farmacológica empírica, intervenção cirúrgica, ablação septal por álcool e/ou introdução de dispositivos cardíacos. O Mavacamten é o primeiro inibidor alostérico da miosina cardíaca, que vem permitir uma terapia mais dirigida para estes doentes. O objetivo desta revisão é fornecer uma visão geral da atual abordagem diagnóstica e de tratamento da MCH, bem como integrar todo o conhecimento atual sobre o Mavacamten, antecipando uma futura mudança no algoritmo de tratamento de doentes com MCH.Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is one of the most common inherited cardiac diseases, defined as a left ventricular wall thickness of ≥15 mm, in the absence of other causes of abnormal ventricular loading. A major hallmark of this disease is the presence of left ventricular outflow tract obstruction, which develops in up to ¾ of the patients, referred to as obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Current treatment is offered to symptomatic patients, based on the presence of documented left ventricular obstruction, aimed at reducing symptoms and disease progression. This is achieved through pharmacological empirical therapy, surgery, alcohol ablation and/or pacing. Mavacamten is a first-in-class allosteric inhibitor of cardiac myosin that promises to provide clinicians with targeted therapy for these patients. The aim of this review is to provide a general overview of the modern approach in diagnosis and management of HCM, as well as to integrate all the current knowledge on Mavacamten, anticipating a future change in the treatment algorithm of patients with HCM

A internet fez com que os gestores das organizações tivessem acesso a grandes quantidades de dados e esses dados são apresentados em diferentes formatos, em concreto, estruturados, semiestruturados e não estruturados. Esta variedade de dados é essencialmente proveniente das redes sociais, mas não só, também são provenientes da Internet of Things. Verifica-se para os dados estruturados que existem técnicas validadas, estudadas e maduras, mas para os outros tipos de dados, ou seja, semiestruturados e não estruturados tal já não se verifica. Neste poster, é apresentado um conjunto de técnicas de análise de dados para os dados semiestruturados e não estruturados, utilizando como principal bibliografia conferências de investigação na área de análise de dados.Through the Internet, the organizations managers had access to massive amounts of data and these data are presented in different formats, namely, structured, semi-structured and unstructured. These variety of data is essentially generated from social networks, but not only, they also are generated from the Internet of Things, from machines, sensors, among others. Easy management and user interconnection across Grid sites

Dissertação de mestrado em Engenharia de InformáticaDistributed computing systems are undoubtedly a powerful resource,providing functions that no other system can do. However, their inherent complexity can lead many users and institutions not to consider these systems when faced by challenges posed by the deployment and administration tasks. The first solution for this problem is the European Grid Initiative (EGI) roll, a tool that simplifies and streamlines those tasks, by extending the tools that are currently available for cluster administration to the grid. It allows the infrastructure to be easily scaled and adopted by the institutions that are involved in grid projects such as EGI. The second part of this work consists of a platform that enables the interconnection of computing assets from multiple sources to create a unified pool of resources. It addresses the challenge of building a global computing infrastructure by providing a communication overlay able to deal with the existence of computing facilities located behind NAT devices. The integration of these two tools results in a solution that not only scales the infrastructure by simplifying the deployment and administration, but also enables the interconnection of those resources

Exploring data analytics of data variety

The Internet allows organizations managers access to large amounts of data, and this data are presented in different formats, i.e., data variety, namely structured, semi-structured and unstructured. Based on the Internet, this data variety is partly derived from social networks, but not only, machines are also capable of sharing information among themselves, or even machines with people. The objective of this paper is to understand how to retrieve information from data analysis with data variety. An experiment was carried out, based on a dataset with two distinct data types, images and comments on cars. Techniques of data analysis were used, namely Natural Language Processing to identify patterns, and Sentimental and Emotional Analysis. The image recognition technique was used to associate a car model with a category. Next, OLAP cubes and their visualization through dashboards were created. Design para superfícies sensíveis : desenvolvimento de superfícies para uma caldeira industrial

Mestrado em Design Integrado na Escola Superior de Tecnologia e Gestão do Instituto Politécnico de Viana do CasteloEsta investigação surge com o intuito de desenvolver uma nova perspetiva para o sector industrial, nomeadamente, relacionando as caldeiras de aquecimento de água com novos valores de comunicação e de identidade, através do design. Como o setor industrial vai respondendo às necessidades utilitárias, o mercado das caldeiras necessita, igualmente, de desenvolver respostas orientadas quer para problemáticas específicas, quer para a mudança que qualifica a realidade atual. Por um lado, trata-se de apontar soluções que satisfaçam uma sociedade cada vez mais propensa para procurar alternativas de energia ao nível económico e a longo prazo. Por outro lado, trata-se de escolher um caminho que indaga acerca do que é um produto transmissor de energia em vez de afirmar que ele é uma caldeira. Suportando-se na cultura do design e na competência da semiótica, a integração destes sistemas de produtos no espaço arquitetónico permitem que se reflita acerca dos paradigmas das funções tecnológicas a serem utilizados, da própria noção de espaço ou dos novos hábitos sociais. Em termos de aplicação, apresenta-se um projeto piloto desenvolvido com a empresa Ventil, no âmbito de uma bolsa de investigação, na qual se espera um resultado que ofereça uma diferenciação no mercado das caldeiras e maior competitividade externa, apresentando-se como uma solução inovadora. Finalmente, com esta investigação espera-se que o sistema de produto a desenvolver comunique através da sua superfície, experiências de significados para quem o utilizar, garantindo ao indivíduo o seu direito a estar no mundo. Este estudo destaca o valor da união entre o design e a indústria como um mecanismo de aprendizagem compartilhada. Ambos os lados podem trocar conhecimento, melhorar as suas capacidades profissionais, propondo significados diferentes e espontâneos e criando novas oportunidades de mercado.This research appears in order to develop a new perspective to the industrial sector in particular relating the water heating boilers with new communication and identity values through design. As the industry has responded to the utilitarian needs, the market for boilers need also to develop targeted responses to specific problems or whether to change that qualifies the current reality. On the one hand, it is to point solutions that satisfy an increasingly prone society to seek alternative energy in economic and long-term. On the other hand, it is to choose a path that asks about what is a power transmitter product instead of stating that it is a boiler. Is supporting in the design culture and competence of semiotics, the integration of these product systems in architectural space allow us to reflect about the paradigms of technological functions to be used, the very notion of space or new social habits. In terms of application, presents a pilot project developed with the Ventil company, under a research grant, which is expected to result that offers a differentiation in the market for boilers and greater external competitiveness, presenting itself as a solution innovative. Finally, this research is expected that the product to develop communication system through its surface, meaning experiments for whom the use, guaranteeing the individual its right to be in the world. This study highlights the value of marriage between design and the industry as a shared learning mechanism. Both sides can exchange knowledge, improve their professional skills, proposing different and spontaneous meanings and creating new market opportunities
